His name may escape you at first, but not for long as John O’Hurley may qualify as the busiest man in the entertainment business this year. He does, however, have one of the most recognizable faces in the industry.

When people see John they usually say, “Oh yea, that guy, I love him!” In addition to his thriving film, TV, stage and voice- over career, O’Hurley is one of the most sought after corporate business spokesmen in the field.

Furthermore, his style and grace attributed to the high ratings of ABC’s hit television show Dancing With The Stars simply by providing one of the flashiest and enjoyable dance performances to date. As a matter of fact, he and his partner, dancer Charlotte Jorgensen recently released a dance DVD together.
This fall we can look forward to seeing John as the new host of The Family Feud game show. In addition, he will be replacing Dick Clark as the host of TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes, which at one time, was noted as the best pre-era reality shows in TV history.

He and his wife, Lisa, will be married 2 years in August and recently discovered that they are expecting their first baby due in December. He half-jokingly say’s “We’ve been married almost two years which makes us the oldest and most successful couple in Hollywood.” The bachelor literally met his match, on the golf course at an ESPY Celebrity Golf Tournament when Lisa was head of marketing for The Golf Channel.

The two are extremely competitive at golf and while playing in Pebble Beach; John decided to “pop the question”. Late in the evening, after the course was closed, they were privately escorted out to play the 7th hole, known for it’s beautiful view. He had two photographers hiding in the bushes to capture the magic moment that almost didn’t happen. Lisa was so far ahead of John, he was kicking balls when she wasn’t looking to try and catch up before she reached the hole. Inside of the hole was the engagement ring in a hand carved box. Lisa, who was hell-bent on beating him being that they had a $100.00 bet on the winning shot, discovered the box and assumed it was a tournament prize that somehow got left behind, subsequently, tossing it over her shoulder to get it out of the way and finish off the competition. The ever-so thankful John said the box just missed going over the edge of the cliff. In the end, it was a win-win situation for John as he won the bet (although questionable how) and, most importantly, got the girl.

The O’Hurley’s are both involved in a number of charities for children and animals.
When John was a teenager he lost his older sister, who was only 17 years old, to Epilepsy. Because this is close to his heart he is the national spokesman for Epilepsy and also funds an Epilepsy camp in San Diego.

John is also heavily involved in an organization called Golfers For Cancer. He claims, “In the nine years since this organization was formed, they have raised over 10 million dollars for the development of some of the most promising cancer treatments, in turn,
responsible for the seed money that eventually raised over a 100 million dollars for cancer research.” He proudly reveals that the organization takes a venture capitalist approach to raising money, which also creates the opportunity to provide funding more rapidly for this vitally important cause.

This dog lover is also the host for NBC’s National Dog Show airing on Thanksgiving Day every year and he and Lisa are involved in The Child Development Institute which is an organization committed to healthy emotional development for children.

At home and on the road (being that John spends about 300 days a year on an airplane), the couple enjoys spending time with their two dogs, Scoshi (a Maltese) and Betty (a mix of dachshund and lab).
John’s best friend and golf buddy, who resides in Sherwood, refers to John as one that clearly breaks the mold, including the fact that O’Hurley demonstrates that real men can proudly push their dogs around in a dog stroller. Although, John denies being at the helm of the buggy he does say “ Even the Japanese tourist in Central Park point and laugh when Lisa and I are out strolling”.
John continues, “I have been lucky enough to live a life similar to the character I parodied on “Seinfeld,” J. Peterman, one of adventure, with a dash of lunacy, and a healthy respect for the way life should be.”

Fresh off of Broadway after starring in the musical stage production of Chicago, John O’Hurley, who is also a singer, pianist and composer released his first album “Peace of Our Minds” an extraordinary collection of musical compositions and performances from John (on keyboard) and his friend, accomplished electronic cellist, Marston Smith. The album quickly climbed to number 13 on the Billboard chart.

Last month, John spoke to the graduating class at Providence College in Rhode Island, exactly 30 years to the date after he himself graduated from there.
“I was the only Theatre graduate that year … consequently winning the theatre award”. He adds that his personal maxim is “You can live an ordinary life or you can have an extraordinary life.” The College also awarded John with an Honorary Doctorate at the graduation.

John’s first book entitled “Its OK To Miss The Bed On The First Jump; Learning Life Lessons From My Dogs” (by Penguin Books) will hit the stands November 2nd, 2006. Bestseller Marley and Me may have to make room on the bookstore shelves being that John’s new book about man’s best friend is full of humor and based on the invaluable lessons he learned from, yes, you guessed it… his dogs.

O’ Hurley is also a wine connoisseur and say’s he and Lisa have a rare wine cellar in their Beverly Hills home. “It’s rare that there is any wine in it” he adds tongue in cheek. Although Lisa is taking her break from any wine tasting for 9 months it is also a shared interest among the couple. O’Hurley does admit, however, that Lisa is the perfect balance for him. “She is everything I am not and I am everything she is not, I will never ask her to sing and she will never ask me to read a spreadsheet.” After a pause, he adds “She takes my breath away”.

Lisa remains active working on individual marketing projects and helps manage and market for John and a few of his ventures.
There is no doubt the newest member of the family, baby O’Hurley, will be exposed to a world full of love, philanthropy, travel, education, an affinity for the arts and last but not least … competitive golf.
